When I was asked to write about testosterone and manhood, I started to think of the different ages and the influence of testosterone. Testosterone is the hormone responsible for the development of manhood after the child reaches puberty. This influx of hormones has a great psychological influence, essentially turning boys in men. Muscle mass and strength increases, the sex drive develops, the voice deepens, and the man is endowed with the capacity to reproduce.
At Pinnacle Rehabilitation Group we not only offer treatment programs that can help someone overcome their opiate dependence.
We also offer a treatment program for those who are struggling with alcoholism and willing to seek treatment.
What Is Medication-Assisted Treatment?
Medication-Assisted Treatment or M.A.T for short is the use of medications, in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies, to provide a “whole-patient” approach to the treatment of substance use disorders. MAT can help sustain recovery. (SAMHSA) M.A.T uses medicine like naltrexone (Vivitrol), buprenorphine (Suboxone) or methadone to curb an addict’s craving for the opiate they are dependent on.
and it’s so important that we understand how to support someone who has taken the necessary steps to become sober. Staying sober is a difficult and lifelong journey. We must understand that even though the addict has gone through rehab, it is not a magic cure. Recovery is a process that doesn’t happen overnight and rehab doesn’t fix everything right away. Nothing about sobriety is easy and this is why as a caregiver, loved one or friend it is important to understand that you play an important role in that person’s recovery. It is okay to not know what to do and it’s okay to have questions. However, it is important to know that recovery takes time. You have to be open to understanding and learning how to care and help a loved one in recovery. Here are 6 ways you can help a loved one in recovery:
